First check the set is plugged in and that no switch has been turned off on the set itself. If it still won't turn on this is normally an electronic fault on the power board (PSU) or main board, sometimes due to faulty capacitors.
This is normally caused by a fault on either the power board (PSU) or the main board.
Similar causes to the TV not turning on fault.
For LCD TVs this could be a faulty logic/tcon or inverter board, or the main board. For Plasma TVs it could be the Y, X or Z sustain boards or the buffer/scanning board, sometimes due to a faulty screen. For LED TVs it's often faulty LED strips. For rear projection TVs it's usually the internal lamp.
Possible causes include a faulty logic board, X, Y or Z sustain boards, the scanning board, or in the worst case a faulty screen, especially if the lines followed a knock to the screen.
This could simply be a faulty aerial; if it is the television it is usually down to a faulty main board.
Often seen on plasma televisions, usually down to a faulty X, Y or Z sustain board, or in the worst case the screen itself.
Frequently caused by a faulty TCon board, though in some cases a faulty screen can cause the TCon board to fail.
Frequently associated with a faulty main board; speaker failure is rare as usually one of the two speakers still works.
Often related to the main board or function PCB.
Inputs such as HDMI, Scart, USB or Aerial are normally connected to the main board, so this is usually what needs repair.
Often an aerial issue rather than a television fault; try the aerial on another TV to check. If it is the television it could be the main board, tuner board or freesat board.
Try new batteries first. If it still doesn't respond it may be a faulty IR sensor in the television or a faulty remote.
Normally due to a faulty function panel.
For wifi sets this could be a faulty wifi module; for ethernet connections it is possibly a faulty main board.
